Donald E. Cowan, 61, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1958 in Key West, Florida to Irvin Eugene Cowan and Helen Adeline (Garrett) Cowan. He married Pamela A. (Mills) Cowan on August 23, 2008 in Evansville, IN, she survives.
He had been a truck driver for Archer-Daniels-Midland Company for eleven years. He previously had been employed by the City of Franklin street department for ten years. He was a United States Army Veteran. He attended Franklin First Assembly of God. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Pamela A. (Mills) Cowan of Franklin, IN; his children Justin W. Cowan and daughter-in-law Kate Cowan of New Palestine, IN, Zachary G. Cowan of Franklin, IN, Jeremiah D. Cowan of Franklin, IN, Joshua C. Cowan and daughter-in law McKenzie Cowan of Westfield, IN, and Sarah A. Cowan of Franklin, IN; two granddaughters Ariel B. Cowan and Skylar K. Cowan; his mother Helen Adeline (Garrett) Cowan of Orlando, FL; father Irvin Eugene Cowan of Montverde, FL; a brother Jack Cowan of Orlando, FL; and a sister Kim Varga (Peter) of Winter Garden, FL.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a drive-thru visitation will take place Monday May 18, 2020 from 12 Noon till 2 p.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Pastor Philip Curtis will conduct a private family service on Monday May 18, 2020 and will be live-streamed at 2:15 p.m. where friends can connect at that time at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/donald-cowan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN with military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.
