H. Catherine “Katie” Lagenour, 93, of Odon, Indiana (where she spent most of her life), passed peacefully on June 7th, 2020 at St. Charles Health Campus, Jasper, Indiana.

She was born in Martin County, Indiana on October 23rd, 1926 to George E. Howerton and Maggie “Wininger” Howerton.

Katie married Herbert Lagenour on May 23rd, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 25th, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; (1) Brother – George Howerton; (4) Sisters – infant Mary and toddler Lois Howerton, Dorothy Hagen, and Violet “Polly” Baer; Sons-in-law – Bill Clay and Raymond Nash; and Daughter-in-law – Judy Lagenour.

Katie was a member of the First Christian Church of Odon and Past Worthy Matron and 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star (OES), Chapter 249, French Lick.

She was the Crane Cafeteria Manager for many years and then switched to the NAD Crane Navy side and retired in 1984 after 32 years. After retirement, she for a while drove a taxi at NSWC Crane.

Katie loved spending time with her family, eating out, shopping, reading, quilting, embroidery and word find puzzles.

Her and Dad (Herb) were Florida snowbirds for many years and loved to camp and travel. She was caring and loving, loved by many and will be missed.

Katie is survived by (1) Son, Stephen Lagenour (Carole) Bedford, Indiana; (3) Daughters, Karen Clay, Morgantown, Indiana; Patsy Hedrick (Roger), Dubois, Indiana, Mary Lee Asdell (Randy), Bloomington , Indiana; (1) Sister, Lorene Lagenour, Hillham, Indiana; (22) Grandchildren, (61) Great-Grandchildren, (17) Great-Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews also survive.

GRAVESIDE CEREMONY

A Graveside Ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Al Madden on Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmons Ridge Cemetery, French Lick, Indiana.

VISITATION

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home, French Lick, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Emmons Ridge Cemetery Fund, c/o Kathy Kalb, 2494 Hillham Road, French Lick, IN 47432.
