Edinburgh police post string of drug arrests

Edinburgh police executed three drug-related search warrants in the past month, the most recent of which led to the arrests of five people, including one for dealing methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony.

Rocky D. Burton, 41, was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.

April L. Streeval, 60, was arrested on charges of possession of paraphernalia, methamphetamine, a controlled substance and synthetic marijuana.

Donnie L. Goff, Jr., 40, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe.

Ashlee Weber, 19, was arrested on charges of possession of paraphernalia and methamphetamine.

And John D. Smith, 38, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Marion County for resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended.

The most recent arrests stem from a search warrant Edinburgh police served Wednesday at a house in the 600 block of Duncan Street. Three residents of the home, along with two others who live elsewhere in the town, were arrested, according to an Edinburgh Police Department report.

It was the culmination of a two-month investigation by the department, said Doyne Little, police chief and lead narcotics investigator.

Streeval answered the door for police and complied with their request to get on the ground while they searched the home, according to the report. Burton was located in his bedroom, where police uncovered two zip lock baggies of crystal methamphetamine weighing 7.6 grams and a ledger.

Burton told police he is not a dealer, but he could give them information about one, the report said.

In Streeval’s bedroom, police found a scale with evidence of methamphetamine residue, rolling papers, hand-rolled cigarettes containing synthetic marijuana, two pills she did not have a prescription for and a cell phone containing text messages about methamphetamine, according to the report.

Streeval told police the scale located in her room was used to weigh synthetic marijuana.

At the time of her arrest, Streeval was out on bond for two counts of dealing in methamphetamine. After being taken into custody during a large drug sweep in April, 2019, the Edinburgh woman plead guilty to the two drug dealing charges last March. She is set to be sentenced by Johnson Circuit Court Judge Andy Roesener at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, according to online court records.

Police found Goff, Weber and Smith in a detached shed, the report said.

Methamphetamine and a syringe were found in Goff’s belongings, and a used syringe was in plain view beside him on the couch when police entered the shed, according to the report.

Police found a spoon with burnt methamphetamine residue beside Weber and inside her purse, the report said.

No drugs or paraphernalia were found near or on Smith, according to the report.

On May 20, police served a warrant in the 400 block of E. Thompson Street, resulting in two additional drug-related arrests.

Jennifer L. Holzhausen, 47 of Edinburgh, was arrested on charges of dealing cocaine or narcotics, maintaining a common nuisance, two charges of possession of a controlled substance and one charge of possession of paraphernalia.

Michael G. Adair, Jr., 44, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance and possession of methamphetamine.

The third case is still pending investigation, and at this time, no arrests have been made, Little said.

“Edinburgh is really knocking down the drugs,” he said.

All were taken to the Johnson County jail. Burton, Streeval and Holzhausen have since bonded out, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Goff is held on $6,800 bond. Weber is held on $2,200 bond. And Adair is held on $6,800 bond. Smith was turned over to Marion County authorities.
