Shepherd ties for fourth at Indiana Open

A final-round 69 helped Ethan Shepherd finish in a tie for fourth place at the Indiana Open, which concluded Wednesday at Rock Hollow.

The Center Grove graduate put together a three-day total of 70-70-69—209, seven shots under par and six behind champion Eric Steger.

Greenwood resident Sean Rowen shot a final-round 74 to finish in a tie for 15th at 213. Other county golfers in the field included Zack Carrabine (222, tied for 41st), Austin Crowder (225, tied for 50th) and Damon Dickey (227, tied for 57th).

Locals wrap up at Girls State Junior

Ava Ray’s three-day total of 238 was good for a 19th-place tie at the IGA Girls State Junior, the highest finish among the 10 locals who competed in Wednesday’s final round at Plum Creek.

The Franklin resident carded an 81 for her last 18 holes. Finishing two strokes behind her in a tie for 22nd was Ava Bunker (240).

Other county participants included Meg Fosnot (244), Liv Parramore (245), Ellie Beavins (246), Lauren Pagel (252), Abigail Rich (255), Lanie DeHaven (256), Sage Parsetich (256) and Lexi Ray (263).
