Indian Creek modifies graduation ceremony

Indian Creek seniors will receive their diplomas in a drive-thru Saturday, after Indian Creek Sr. High School changed course, modifying its graduation ceremony set for tomorrow morning.

Since Indiana decided to continue with Stage 4.5 of the state’s Back on Track Indiana plan where events with crowds larger than 250 people are discouraged, Indian Creek decided to cancel the formal high school graduation.

The school still plans to have a non-traditional ceremony for its graduates at 10 a.m. Saturday, but there will be no speeches or audience. Instead, graduates will line up in the parking lot inside their cars with their families, and receive their diplomas one by one, according to a letter sent to parents of graduating seniors by Principal Luke Skobel.
