<p>Golf</p><p>Two ex-Trojans in red at Northern Am</p><p>Former Center Grove teammates Ethan Shepherd and Noah Gillard shot 70 and 71, respectively, to put themselves near the top of the leaderboard after Wednesday’s first round of the Northern Amateur at Sand Creek in Chesterton.</p><p>Shepherd sits in a tie for 12th, five shots behind leader Josh Gilkison (65). Gillard is tied for 20th.</p><p>Two more former Trojans were on the course Wednesday: Luke DeHaven finished with a round of 77, while Alex Heck was one stroke behind him at 78.</p><p>Shepherd advances to match play</p><p>Erica Shepherd turned in a 71 for the second straight day to advance to the match-play portion of the Women’s Western Amateur, which begins today with the rounds of 32 and 16 at Prestwick Country Club in Frankfort, Illinois.</p><p>The Center Grove graduate finished stroke play with a two-day total of 142, good for a fourth-place tie.</p><p>Young competing at Women’s Open</p><p>Lucy Young finished with a score of 86 Wednesday in the opening round of the Indiana PGA Women’s Open at Rock Hollow in Peru. The former Center Grove star is tied for 51st.</p>
