William Wayne “Bill” Heck Sr.FRANKLIN, IN
William Wayne “Bill” Heck Sr., 90, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN. He was born August 17, 1929 on the family farm that he was raised on in Shelby County, IN to Bryan Goldie Heck and Veva (Arbuckle) Heck.
He married Emma Pearl (Hart) Heck on January 16, 1953 in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on February 23, 2020.
Bill was a graduate of Mt. Auburn School in Shelby County, IN. He was a Sgt. in the United States Army having served as a Combat Veteran of the Korean War and was subsequently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant having received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Indiana Carpenters Union Local 758 for twenty years. He was a member of the Mt. Auburn Christian Church in Shelby County, IN where he had served as a deacon.
Bill enjoyed baking pies, cobblers and breads and was an avid arrowhead collector and enjoyed tinkering with different things.
Survivors include his four sons William “Bill” Heck Jr. of Taylorsville, IN, Robert “Bob” Heck of Franklin, IN, Brad Heck (Allene) of Franklin, IN and Brian Heck (Bethanne Maus) of Milwakee, WI; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one sister Carolyn Scheidt (Henry “Hank”) of Cincinnati, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Emma Pearl (Hart) Heck; brothers Tom Heck, Dick Heck, Ralph Heck; infant sister Margueritee Heck and sister Maxine Heck.
At the family’s request and COVID19 situation, a private family service and burial will be conducted with full military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Shelby County, IN.
