Willard J. "Bussie" Surface, 87 of Bargersville, IN passed away Friday August 21, 2020 at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon, IN. He was born May 8, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN to Stoughton Jacob Surface and Frieda Pearl (Rusher) Surface.
</p>
<p>
He married Barbara Sue (Russell) Surface on July 14, 1979 in Bargersville, IN, she survives.
</p>
<p>
He attended Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis. He had been an underground project manager for Far West Construction in Indianapolis for 30 years. He also raised Black Angus cattle. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Franklin Ward and a 50 year member of Waverly Masonic Lodge #615 having assisted in the building of the Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Sue (Russell) Surface of Bargersville, IN, his children Pamela Rose Payne (Rod) of Springville, UT, Larry Ray Surface of Greenwood, IN, Willard Randall Surface (Peggy) of Whiteland, IN, Linda C. Plunkett (Brent) of Mooresville, IN, Richard A. Surface (Dawn) of Bargersville, IN and Laura E. Harris (Todd) of Greenwood, IN, and four step children James Thompson of Indianapolis, IN, Tanya Personne of San Felipe, Baja, Mexico, Jill Hellstrom of Bland, VA and Joel Thompson of Indianapolis, IN, a brother Stephen Phillip Surface of Greenwood, IN, 27 grandchildren and over 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Lawrence Jacob Surface a brother Russell Irvine Surface and a sister Dola Dean Ott.
</p>

A private family service will be conducted. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
