GREENWOOD

Mrs. Nancy Lee Long, Greenwood, went Home to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at her residence. She was 78. Nancy was born March 7, 1942 in Bloomington, Indiana, a daughter of the late Howard Asbury and Beulah Agatha (Bird) Young.

Nancy attended University High School in Bloomington and was a member of the graduating Class of 1960. Nancy was a “professional mom”, loving, caring and making a home for her family. She deeply loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Being the mother she was, she always supported her sons whether it be sports events or just day to day activities. Nancy was the consummate hostess and caregiver, planning every detail of holiday gatherings and family events and making sure everything was just right. In her leisure time, she enjoyed eating out, attending to her yard and flowers, landscaping and most of all, shopping. Being a Bloomington girl, she was an avid fan of the Indiana University Hoosiers and followed them closely.

Nancy was a member of the Mount Auburn United Methodist Church for over 43 years where was active in many areas, especially the life groups and her Sunday School class.

Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Gary Long; her sons, Brad (Lisa) Long, Mike (Janna) Long and Scott (Lana) Long; her grandchildren, Shelby Couch, Landry Long, Cody Long, Anthony Long, Acacia Long, Cade Long, Kendall Long and Drew Long; four great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in passing by her brother, John Young.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at Mount Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
