Mabel M. (Eltzroth) Thompson 96 of Franklin, IN and a resident of the Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
She was born April 2, 1924 in Portland, Indiana to Samuel J. and Bessie Mae (Almonrode) Eltzroth. She married Ira Brunner, he preceded her in death. She later married Elton “E.T.” Thompson on June 13, 1981 in Indianapolis, IN, he preceded her in death on July 17, 2016.
She had been a head cashier for Kroger’s at the Lafayette Square Mall in Indianapolis for 32 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and a lay minister at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community. She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Ernest “Ernie” Eltzroth, William “Bill” Eltzroth, Don Eltzroth, Robert Eltzroth, Cecil Eltzroth, Leonard Eltzroth and Kenneth Eltzroth.
Reverend Bert Kite and Rev. David Mark Owens will conduct a service on Friday September 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/mabel-thompson. Friends may call Friday September 4, 2020 from 10 a.m. till service time at the mortuary. Due to COVID 19 mandates facial coverings or mask are required for those attending. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
