FRANKLIN

Deloris M. Davis was born on a farm in Carbon, Indiana on September 19,1935. Her parents were Charles and Pearl (Hansel) Lee.

She attended school in Bridgeton, Indiana where her and her siblings graduation photos still hang on the walls. She loved school. She loved to read and she started a journal in 1983 and wrote for many many years.

She was raised a Baptist and would discuss the many things from the Bible. She liked to tell stories from her childhood and how hard it was. She was one of eight and loved them all dearly. Those who have passed before her are Forest, Virgil, Charles, Rhoama, Leatha and Sarah and the two youngest, Robert and Mary are still with us today.

Deloris married Billy L. Davis, Sr. on October 5,1956 in Brazil, Indiana. They moved to Franklin in the 60s and built their forever home in 1963 on Roberts Road. Billy Sr. was born in Mecca, Indiana and he passed on November 15,2012.

Billy Sr. and Deloris had three children, Diane Yrttima, Billy Davis, Jr and Debbie(Ernie) Ruddick and they gave them seven grandchildren, Dawn Tyree, Melody (Biake) Griffith, Zebulon Yrttima, Joseph (Krystal) French, Zackary (Megan) Yrttima, Erin (Josh) Anderson and Emily Davis.

Deloris was a wonderful Grandmother who could not get enough of these grandchildren. She loved It when they would all be at the house where she hassled them to eat and drink something. She had a very funny sense of humor that was spread to each and every person in her family.

Deloris was also blessed in 2010 with her first Great-Grandchild, a boy. Then more followed after Kash French, Carlee Jones, Optimus Griffith, and Lexie Yrttima. Then just 3 months ago she met Jade Anderson and she didn’t know but another Yrttima will be here in March. All because two people fell in love.

She loved to read about American History, the Presidents and especially the Kennedys, Abe Lincoln. If you stopped by her home you would hear her arguing with politicians on CNN. This years Election was her toughest argument yet.

Her favorite time of the year was the fall and seeing the changing of the leaves. She loved to go to festivals where she could have a bowl of bean soup and a blooming onion. She also loved sitting on her porch year after year and watching all the cars and kids go by heading to the ballpark for a season of Little League. It brought back many a memory of when her and Billy Sr. used to coach and take food/candy to the concession stands. Bitty Sr. also coach Bantam League Football with all the other neighborhood Dads from the North End. She loved IU basketball team and was a die- hard Colts fan. Deloris was retired from Wal-Mart where she worked in the Automotive Dept. She also worked at Vais, Ames.

She also loved getting her hair done by Leita who did her and Billy Sr. for many many years, she also loved her good neighbors Bonnie and Tim who was always there for her and Dad at any moment. And she always loved keeping cookies and cheese available for Liam, a little friend from next door.

She simply loved and appreciated every single person who came into her life.

Deloris spent the last 7 months of her life living in Christina Place and Assisted Living Facility. There she met many good people who loved her spunk and hard headedness.

She passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hour on September 12,2020, just 1 week shy of her 85th birthday. Her family can only imagine the reunion with Jesus and her granddaughter Melody and all her brother and sisters, in-laws as well.

Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, Indiana will oversee her wishes for cremation. Her final resting place will be next to Dad at Greenwlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana. Burial will be scheduled at a later date.
