Shepherd finishes third at amateur event

<p>Duke sophomore golfer <strong>Erica Shepherd</strong> shot a 4-under-par 67 in the final round to place third at the Golfweek Caledonia Amateur in Pawleys Island, S.C. The Center Grove product carded a total score of 206 (-7), one shot behind tournament winner Emily Mahur.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p>Louisville senior defensive back <strong>Russ Yeast</strong> had three tackles and a fumble recovery in the Cardinals’ season-opening 35-21 win against Western Michigan.</p><p>Louisiana senior kicker <strong>Nate Snyder</strong> contributed a field goal, point-after and five kickoffs averaging 57.2 yards to the Ragin’ Cajuns’ 31-14 upset victory at No. 23 Iowa State.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]<p>The Grace College women’s golf team finished third of seven teams at the Battle at Blackthorn in South Bend. Sophomore <strong>Lucy Young</strong> took seventh individually with a score of 84-78—162.</p><p><strong>GREENWOOD</strong></p><p>Huntington goalkeeper <strong>Maddy Moan</strong> made seven saves and allowed two goals in the women’s soccer team’s 6-1 home loss to Taylor to open the season.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>IUPUI sophomore <strong>Josh Campbell</strong> recorded a personal-best time of 27 minutes, 29.2 seconds as the Jaguars competed in the John McNichols Invitational at Indiana State.</p>
