Boys soccer

Trojans blank Owls

Center Grove rolled past Seymour, 5-0, on Saturday. Landen Montfort had a goal and two assists for the Trojans (6-3-3), while Aaron McDaniel, Ely Detty and Cody Hewitt each scored once.

Girls soccer

Trojans handle Quakers

Center Grove got goals from Taylor Wert, Emily Karr and Makensie Kramer in a 3-1 win over Plainfield on Saturday. Peyton Murphy, Lexi Glover and Casy Zuch had assists for the Trojans (7-3).

Roncalli falls to Flashes

A second-half penalty kick made the difference in Franklin Central’s 1-0 victory over Roncalli on Saturday.

Cross-country

Trojan boys, Franklin girls fifth

Running against many of the state’s top teams, Center Grove’s boys and Franklin’s girls each notched fifth-place team finishes at the Flashrock Invitational on Saturday morning.

Drew Costelow was fourth individually with a time of 15:27.7 to pace the Trojans. Freshman Lauren Klem was seventh overall in the girls race at 18:06.7, breaking her own school record.

Center Grove’s girls finished seventh as a team, while the Franklin boys were 14th.

Boys tennis

Lancers net three league titles

Edinburgh’s three singles players all ran the table in their brackets at the Mid-Hoosier Conference tournament on Saturday. Max Blandford won the title at No. 1 singles, with Travis Jones and Chase Littlejohn doing the same in the second and third spots.

Woodmen win tourney crown

Greenwood swept three matches at the Columbus East Invitational, beating the host Olympians 5-0, Providence 4-1 and Evansville Reitz 3-2. Ethan Gray, Nick Belovic and Charlie Brooks all went unbeaten for the Woodmen.

Warriors dominate invite

Whiteland won its own invitational with 4-1 victories over Batesville, Shelbyville and Jennings County. Quinten Gillespie and Dylan Gross were both 3-0 in singles, while Ty McCullars won two singles matches and paired with Ariss Mardanzai for a doubles point. Travis Robinson and Josh Pitts were 2-0 at second doubles.

Braves earn league win

Indian Creek finished out its Western Indiana Conference schedule with a 4-1 home win over Greencastle on Saturday. The Braves (10-3, 3-1) play at Franklin today.

Volleyball

Cougars sweep Warriors

Greenwood Christian had little trouble at Warren Central on Saturday, cruising to a 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 victory.

Miscellany

Franklin wrestling to host benefit

The Franklin wrestling team, along with Blue Help and the National Police Wives Association, will be holding a 50/50 golf ball drop at Tameka Woods Golf Course on Sept. 27 at 8:45 a.m. for National Suicide Awareness Month.

Balls can be purchased online or until 8:15 a.m. the day of the event ($100 for 12 balls, $50 for six or $10 for one). Closest to the pin wins 50 percent of the total pot, while the ball farthest from the hole will win a $200 prize. More information available at https://franklin-wrestling-club.square.site.
