Leanore G. “Lee” Cox, Indianapolis, passed away on September 24, 2020. Lee was born on August 26, 1938 in Indianapolis to the late Carl Anthony and Cecilia (Johantgen) Eschenbach. On January 1, 1972 Lee was united in marriage to her late husband, William R. “Bill” Cox; Bill passed away on March 25, 1999.

Lee graduated from St. Catherine of Siena High School in 1952. She went on to have a very successful career at Indianapolis Steel Warehouse where she was employed for over 33 years. During her tenure, Lee held positions in administration, ordering, accounting, and, and sales.

During her life with Bill, Lee was stepmother to LuAnne (only 4 years old at the time), Anita, Julie, David, John, and Susan. Bill and Lee made it a priority to enjoy vacation time as a family, whether camping or taking trips out of state. They also enjoyed hosting family and friends, especially at their home on Lamb Lake.

After Bill passed away, Lee remained an avid reader, card and domino player, in addition to quilting, embroidery, and needlepoint. Over the years, she also adopted four cats who became loving family members. She continued to enjoy travel and life in Naples, Florida, and yearly visits with her sisters. She and her friend Peggy spent many enjoyable times together in Naples. Lee coached her son while making a beautiful quilt for his wife and had lots of sewing days with her granddaughter, Amanda. She mailed a quilt to her granddaughter, Rachel in England and had numerous other quilt projects for many family and friends. Lee’s quilting work was always beautiful and filed with love.

Lee truly enjoyed treating family and friends to meals at her favorite restaurants. She always looked forward to her “girl” days with her sisters, her cousin, Andrea, and her lifelong friend, Isabel. A woman of faith, Lee was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Above all, she was a woman with a loving and kind spirit who made friends everywhere she went. Lee will be missed by all of those who loved her. She is now resting peacefully with the love of her life, Bill.

Along with her parents and husband, Lee is preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Rambow, Carlann Richardson, and Sister Mary Catherine Eschenbach, OSF, Oldenburg, Indiana.
