BARGERSVILLE, IN.
L. Joyce (Core) Jones, 81, lifelong resident of Bargersville, IN passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. She was born March 30, 1939 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN to Russell Lloyd Core and Carrie Irene (Daugherty) Core.
Joyce was a 1957 graduate of Center Grove High School and received her Master’s Degree from Indiana Central College now known as the University of Indianapolis. She had been and English and Literature teacher at Center Grove High School for 25 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Bargersville, IN. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Johnson County Republican Women’s Club. She enjoyed yoga, reading and swimming.
Survivors include her daughter Vicki L. Atwood of Franklin, IN, her son Jeffrey Jones (Shaleen) of Bargersville, IN; her sister Barbara Kincaid of Bargersville, IN; and brother David Core (Elaine) of Aurora, IN; three grandchildren Jordan Jones of Trafalgar, IN, Tyler Atwood (Laura) of Columbus, OH and Megan Bullock (JR) of Nineveh, IN; and four great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pastor Dustin Hite will conduct a service on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/l.joyce-jones.
