Gillespie wins sectional championship

Whiteland senior Quinten Gillespie rolled through the championship match of the individual sectional tournament at Center Grove on Thursday afternoon. Gillespie defeated Isaac Lian of Perry Meridian 6-0, 6-0.

In the doubles championship match, the Franklin duo of Sam Auger and Jackson Klem was eliminated by Shelbyville’s Layton Stieneker and Matthew Bunton, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

Grizzly Cubs top Bull Dogs

Franklin shook off a first-set defeat to top Columbus North, 12-25, 25-10, 25-17, 25-22. Cami Kelsay, who did not play in the first set, was honored before the match for registering her 1,000th career kill during last week’s county tournament.

Cougars sweep Yellow Jackets

Greenwood Christian coasted to a three-set sweep of Morristown on Thursday, 25-11, 25-9, 25-11.

Woodmen take out Cardinals

Greenwood finished out its regular season with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-12 victory at Southport.

Roncalli loses to Olympians

Despite 15 digs from Aly Kirkoff, Roncalli was defeated by Columbus East, 25-19, 27-25, 25-13.

A free kick by Chiara Schilten held up as the lone goal in Roncalli’s 1-0 sectional semifinal victory over Franklin Central on Thursday. Goalie Emma Agresta kept the clean sheet in the win.
