Sectional brackets unveiled for football

<p>The high school football state tournament doesn’t start for two more weeks, but each team now knows the path it has to travel after the IHSAA unveiled the sectional pairings Thursday evening.</p><p>In Class 5A, fifth-ranked Whiteland drew a semifinal home game against Seymour on Oct. 30, while Franklin travels to play defending state champion New Palestine. The winners will square off in the title game on Nov. 6. </p><p>Class 6A No. 1 Center Grove will open its tournament run with a sectional semifinal at Columbus North on Oct. 30. The Trojans would then play either Columbus East or Franklin Central in the final a week later.</p><p>Greenwood will begin its Class 4A sectional journey at home on Oct. 23 against South Dearborn, with a potential semifinal rematch against Mid-State Conference rival Martinsville.</p><p>In Class 3A, Indian Creek will travel to Tri-West for an Oct. 23 first-round game, with either Greencastle or Indianapolis Washington awaiting the winner.</p><p>Edinburgh will be at home for its sectional opener — the Lancers’ eighth home date in 10 games — on Oct. 23, but it faces its toughest test of the year in unbeaten Covenant Christian, the No. 5 team in Class A.</p>
