Former Franklin runner helps Florida College fare well

Florida College junior Caleb McCort placed 14th of 86 runners at the 8-kilometer Ave Invite in 27 minutes, 34.2 seconds. The former Franklin Community High School runner’s performance in the event helped the Falcons finish third in the team standings.

FRANKLIN

Vincennes sophomore golfer Matt Jordan took medalist honors at the VU Invitational with a 1-under-par total of 72-71—143. He was also the runner-up in a tournament at the Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Illinois. Jordan shot 74 to help the Trailblazers to tie for second in the team standings.

CENTER GROVE

IU Southeast volleyball player Santina Schembra had three digs in her team’s 25-21, 25-23, 25-16 loss at IU Kokomo.

Valparaiso tennis player Isabella Schoolcraft played doubles for the Crusaders at the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in Waterloo, Iowa, helping the duo place fifth in the top flight. The sophomore opened the three-day event with a 6-2, 6-3 singles loss and lost the fifth-place match in a three-set tiebreaker the next day.

Vanderbilt senior defensive lineman Cameron Tidd had a tackle in the team’s 41-7 loss at defending national champion LSU.

GREENWOOD

Senior outside hitter Camryn LaMonaca had two kills and 14 digs for the Point Park (Pennsylvania) volleyball team in a four-set win at Asbury (Kentucky). In the team’s five-set triumph at Carlow (Pennsylvania), LaMonaca finished with two kills, 11 digs and a service ace.

Maddy Moan, a goalkeeper for the Huntington women’s soccer team, played the entire match against Goshen, making three saves in a 1-0 double-overtime loss. Moan added three more saves in the team’s 2-1 loss to Grace.

RONCALLI

The Trine men’s cross country team concluded its fall schedule by placing second at the Calvin Invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Senior Neil O’Brien, a Whiteland resident, took seventh individually in a time of 25 minutes, 49.73 seconds.
