Douglas L. "Doug" Feyerabend, 70 of Franklin passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Community Heart Hospital from complications of surgery.
</p>
<p>
He was born on October 12, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold and Joyce (Moree) Feyerabend. He married Sandy (Childers) Feyerabend on June 29, 1974. She lovingly survives. He is survived by their children, Amy Feyerabend Urban (Bryson) of Franklin and Ryan Feyerabend (Brooke Spicer) of Franklin. Also surviving are grandchildren; Tyler Urban (Amy), Kennedy Urban, Cooper Douglas Urban, Zain Feyerabend, Preston Douglas Feyerabend and Lyric Strong and two brothers, John Feyerabend (Kandie) of Unionville, Indiana and Steve Feyerabend (Lori) of Arizona. He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Doug was a 1969 graduate of Franklin High School. He attended Lincoln Technical Institute for two years.
</p>
<p>
Doug was employed by Grimmer-Schmidt Corporation for five years. He then was employed by United Parcel Service as a Mechanic, retiring after thirty years of service. Doug later was employed with the Franklin Community School Corporation where he landed his "dream job" mowing the grounds and outlining the athletic fields.
</p>
<p>
He was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and a member of the Teamsters Union No. 710. He was a former cub and boy’s scout in his youth. Doug was the Chairman of the Amputee Support Group at Franciscan Health. Doug also served as co-chairman for the City of Franklin Christmas Courthouse Lighting for over twenty years.

He received the award of Youth Volunteer of the year from the City of Franklin.
</p>
<p>
Doug enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed evaluating every play of the game, talking to himself. He also enjoyed watching reruns of Gunsmoke.
</p>
<p>
He enjoyed and loved his lunches with his buddies from Grimmer-Schmidt at the Grill Bar each month.
</p>
<p>
Doug coached and volunteered for more than twenty-five years with the Franklin Community High School Baseball program and feeder systems. While his son Ryan played college baseball he met so many friends and enjoyed staying in touch with them.
</p>
<p>
He enjoyed fishing with his brother and enjoyed talking to everyone. (Doug would’ve made a great politician!!) He enjoyed all of his road trips, especially to Yellowstone.
</p>
<p>
He enjoyed watching his grandkids games and cheering them on. He was always happy to offer constructive criticism.
</p>
<p>
Doug was proud of his children and grandchildren and so proud of all of their accomplishments in their lives. This was a great pleasure in his life spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was so looking forward to his first great-grandchild being born.
</p>
<p>
Doug will be sorely missed by all.
</p>
<p>
Chaplain Michael Mercer will conduct a celebration of Doug’s life on Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Friday, October 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 mandates, facial coverings or mask are required for those attending. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 972, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
