Audrea Louise Sanders

SAN DISGO, CA FORMERLY OF EDINBURGH, IN

Audrea Louise Sanders, longtime Edinburgh resident, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2020 in San Diego, CA where she had lived for the past 15 years. She was born March 22, 1921, in Bartholomew County, to Mary Gosch Davis and Elbert Dewey Davis who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dean Francis Davis, her first husband, Glenn Merrick of Franklin, and her husband of many years, James W. Sanders of Edinburgh. She is survived by daughter, Jane Keller of San Diego, sons, Joel V. Sanders and his wife Lisa of Martinsville, NJ, James D. Sanders and wife, Linda of Indianapolis, grandchildren, Laura Schultz, Temecula, CA, Daniel Keller, San Francisco, Rick Sanders of Indianapolis, Daniel Sanders and James Q. Sanders of Indianapolis, Melissa Sanders of Iowa, and great-grandchildren, Coral and Morgan Bassett, and Drew , Michael, Ruby, and Tommy Sanders.

Audrea was active in Edinburgh civic activities and a longtime member of St. George Lutheran Church, where she was a choir member. She was also active in PTA, Thrifty Thirty Home EC Club, and a china painting group. Audrea crocheted beautiful afghans, and other items, which she donated to church fundraisers, or gave to friends and family.

Her many jobs included managing Smith’s Photo and Card Shop where she first met her future husband, Jim Sanders. She also worked at IGA Grocery, Edinburgh Municipal Utilities, and Edinburgh State Bank.

On October 14 she was laid to rest at St. George Lutheran Church beside her beloved husband, James Sanders. A celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
