LANTANA, FLORIDA

A former 60-year resident of New Whiteland, Indiana, “Bud”, at age 97, passed away on October 22, 2020, in Florida where he had resided since 2016. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Verna (Whitlow) Lancaster and his son, Michael Lancaster. He is survived by his two daughters, Sandy Davis, of Boynton Beach, Florida, Diane Stephenson, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and his son, David Lancaster, of Ocoee, Florida, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

He was born in Beech Grove, Indiana and graduated from Beech Grove High School. In 1942, he enlisted in the military serving with the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific as a Pharmacist’s Mate 2nd Class. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in battles with the Japanese in the Marshall Islands.

Mr. Lancaster was employed 44 years at the U.S. Rubber plant in Indianapolis, retiring in 1985. He was also a lifelong golfer and pilot, having been a charter member of EAA Chapter 525 in Franklin, Indiana. Bud and Verna enjoyed their retirement years being snowbirds between their home in Indiana and St. Petersburg, Florida.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the family plot at Buck Creek Church Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana beside his wife.
