MARTINSVILLE

Mr. Reginald “Redgie” VanDyke, Martinsville, passed away on the early afternoon of Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Community Hospital South. He was 70. Redgie was born June 30, 1950 in Franklin, Indiana, a son of the late Wallace Lee and Lora Catherine (Boring) VanDyke.

Redgie attended Center Grove High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1968. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 22 and was a partner in the ownership and operation of Indy Steel Erectors from 1980-2017. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, horse racing and traveling to Minnesota to fish as well as visits to Florida. He also enjoyed gardening and raising vegetables every year. Redgie was a family man and he would agree that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He cherished the time he could spend with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, RayeAnne (Knapp) VanDyke; his children, Brad (Julie) VanDyke and Missy (Chris) Urquhart; his grandchildren, Breyanna (David) Shirley, Taylor (Nick) Gates, Jacob VanDyke, Cassidy Johnson (Fiance, Logan McNamee), Logan VanDyke and Camryn Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Aria Shirley, Zoe Shirley, Grayson Gates and Harlee Gates; his brothers, Wallace (Pam) VanDyke and Danny (Chris) VanDyke; his sisters, Sharon (Gary) Murray, Linda (Bob) Poehler, Kay (Bill) Riley and Jacqui (Randy) Dakin as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his sister, Cathy Lasley.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, October 30, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the funeral home.
