Elliott concedes in House District 93; Jacob wins

Republican John Jacob will win Indiana House District 93 after his opponent conceded Wednesday night.

Jacob on Thursday had 61% of the overall votes between Johnson and Marion counties. His challenger, Democrat Angela Elliott, had 39% of the votes.

District 93 includes a portion of White River Township in Johnson County, and the southside of Indianapolis. Jacob won Johnson County Tuesday night, with 67% of the votes.

Marion County still had thousands of ballots to count by the end of the night Wednesday, but Elliott conceded to Jacob in the early evening. She posted a statement on her Facebook page, saying she "accepts the loss with grace" and wished Jacob the best.

This was Jacob’s first time running for public office. He’s lived on the southside of Indianapolis his whole life, and previously worked as an auditor for the Indiana State Board of Accounts before starting a design firm with his wife a few years ago.

Jacob’s primary platforms include ending abortion in Indiana and preventing government overreach, he said. He plans to co-author the already-filed House Bill 1089, known as the “Protection of Life” bill, that would put an end to abortions in Indiana, he said.
