GREENWOOD

Ronald George Paszek, 83, of Greenwood, IN, passed away at home, surrounded by love, on November 17, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born on September 28, 1937, in South Bend, IN, to the late Ferdynand and Dorothy Paszek. He graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1955, then entered the United States Marine Corps where he served three years as a machine gunner, earning the rank of Corporal.

In 1961, Ron married the love of his life, Sharon Rantz. Together, they raised four children in South Bend, IN, before moving, as a family, to Franklin, IN, in 1976.

Ron retired in 2000 after 32 years as an adjuster and field supervisor in the insurance industry. He and his wife spent six years enjoying their retirement in Florida.

Family and sports were his passion. Rarely, did he miss any of his grandchildren’s sporting events, whether it be in person, online or getting the play by play afterwards. Their dog, Ruby, also held a special place in his heart. Ron was a loyal fan of his beloved Fighting Irish and Chicago Cubs. He loved to play golf with his family and friends and then, later in life, enjoyed Monday morning coffee with special neighbor friends. Ron was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church where he was always willing to help with parish events.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon, their four children, Tony (Ronda) Paszek of Sussex, WI, Lisa (Phil) Carpenter of Franklin, IN, Joe (Amy) Paszek of Franklin, IN and Kim (Leo) Brosnan of Greenwood, IN; nine grandchildren, Jordan, Makenzie and Greta Paszek; Kristen Carpenter and Sarah (Carpenter) Hendricks; Olivia and Grace Paszek; Molly and Joey Brosnan; one great grandson, Parker Hendricks and three siblings, Tom (Lorraine) Paszek of Ocala, FL, Gloria (Bob) Budney of South Bend, IN and Linda (Paul) Radecki of South Bend, IN. Also special to him were his in-laws, Marilyn Weisser, South Bend, IN, Eldora Potts, Mishawaka, IN, Ed and Pat Kopczynski, South Bend, IN and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved.
