IU’s Willham earns all-American wrestling honor

Indiana University wrestler Nick Willham earned all-American status at the UWW Junior Nationals held in Omaha, Nebraska. Willham, a sophomore and former Greenwood High School athlete, competed at 92kg and finished sixth overall.

GREENWOOD

Senior outside hitter Camryn LaMonaca finished with four kills and five digs for the Point Park (Pennsylvania) volleyball team, but it wasn’t enough in a three-set loss at IU Kokomo in a quarterfinal match of the River States Conference volleyball tournament.

WHITELAND

Saint Francis (Indiana) senior guard Sidney Crowe tallied 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and had two assists in the Cougars’ 72-54 win over IU East. Crowe’s former Whiteland teammate, sophomore guard Megan Harlow, scored five points to go along with a rebound and assist for the Red Wolves in the loss. Crowe scored 14 in her team’s next game, a 76-60 win at Oakland City, while Harlow was good for three rebounds and an assist in IU East’s 94-62 loss to NAIA No. 3 Marian.

FRANKLIN

Marian senior defender Delanie Hill started for the Knights women’s soccer team as it improved to 14-1 with a 2-0 defeat of Grace in the championship match of the Crossroads League tournament. The title advance Marian into the NAIA national tournament, scheduled to begin in April.

Florida College junior Caleb McCort placed sixth at the Southern States Athletic Conference men’s cross country meet in Danville, Alabama. McCort’s time of 27 minutes, 9.33 seconds, helped the Falcons finish second overall.

INDIAN CREEK

Junior guard Jared DeHart scored 16 points to go along with three assists off the bench in Bethel’s 85-79 loss to Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Pilots bounced back with an 89-77 win at Governors State with DeHart scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds.

CENTER GROVE

Defensive back Russ Yeast had four tackles for Louisville in its 31-17 loss at Virginia.

Louisiana senior Nate Snyder kicked off seven times with two touchbacks and an average boot of 54 yards.

IU Southeast volleyball player Santina Schembra contributed 10 digs and two service aces to the team’s three-set win against West Virginia Tech in a quarterfinal match of the River States Conference volleyball tournament. The team lost to IU Kokomo in four sets in a semifinal with Schembra finishing with eight digs.

Indiana Wesleyan guard Spencer Piercefield had three points and three rebounds in the third-ranked (NAIA) Wildcats’ 114-70 win at Oakland City.
