A Greenwood man who was out awaiting trial on several charges, including child molestation, was arrested again Thursday, this time for downloading and sharing child pornography.
Nathan Lee Robinson, 22, 505 W. Smith Valley Road, Apt. 120, is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, both Level 5 felonies, and child exploitation, a Level 4 felony. He was already facing several charges in Johnson County, including two counts of child molestation, both Level 3 felonies, stemming from a 2018 case; battery by bodily waste of a public safety officer, a Level 6 felony, stemming from a 2019 case; and misdemeanor battery.
Robinson was out on pre-trial release, according to online court records. His jury trial was rescheduled several times and is now set for Dec. 15, court records show. He now faces nearly 60 years in prison if convicted on all charges and ordered to serve separate sentences.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified the Greenwood Police Department and Indiana ICAS Task Force that in February, Robinson uploaded multiple files containing child pornography, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Johnson County Circuit Court.
Greenwood police subpoenaed AT&T and obtained a search warrant for Robinson’s email account. On Nov. 3, police searched Robinson’s apartment, seizing a cell phone, laptop, hard drive and memory card, and found numerous photos and videos of child pornography. The victims ranged in age from infant to 8 years old, according to court documents. The photos and videos were uploaded and shared between Feb. 28 and Nov. 3, court documents said.
Greenwood police interviewed Robinson at the apartment. At first, Robinson said he did not possess any child pornography. He later told police he was collecting evidence from apps and groups he was in to hunt and report child predators. To do that, he "made himself look like one of them," he told police. He also told police he had forwarded child pornography to other members of the groups, court documents said.
Robinson was taken to the Johnson County jail where he is held on $13,200 bond.
