MORGANTOWN
Thomas G. “Tom” Smith, age 70, passed away Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Morgantown.
Tom was born March 24, 1950, in Indianapolis to his parents, the late Everett and Jeanette (Miner) Smith. He was a 1968 graduate of Southport High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electricians Mate during the Vietnam War. He married Rebecca S. Mills on August 17, 1974 in Sweetser, Indiana. She lovingly survives after 46 devoted years of marriage.
Tom retired as a Trim Carpenter for TwoMac Interior Trim Service in Greenwood. Prior to that he did plaster work with his father for several years. Tom enjoyed woodworking and created beautiful pieces of furniture which included cabinets and grandfather clocks. He belonged to the Southport Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He will be missed by his wife Rebecca, sons: Aaron (Suzann) Smith and Joshua Smith all of Morgantown, brother, Stephen (Cathy) Smith of Greenwood, and grandchildren: Zachary, Allison, Noah, Rachel, Emily, Jeremiah, and Lauren Smith.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
Pastor Tim Conboy will conduct a funeral service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Community Church: 1450 State Road 135 North in Nashville. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Military rites will be presented following the graveside service on Thursday by the Brown County Honor Guard and United States Navy. The funeral services for Tom will be livestreamed on Meredith-Clark Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
