Driver crashes into Franklin CVS

An elderly woman crashed her car into the brick exterior of a CVS in Franklin about 10 a.m. Friday.

The woman, who denied medical treatment, said her foot got caught on the accelerator, causing her to crash into and damage the front end of her car, said Matt Culp, Franklin fire chief.

The exterior was damaged at the CVS at 11 N. Morton St., at the intersection of Jefferson Street and U.S. 31, with dozens of bricks displaced beneath a large window near the entrance. But the building was still structurally sound, said Brian Oliver, a Franklin Police Department sergeant.

As a precaution, Franklin police placed cones and caution tape around the south side of the building, also taping off the part of the interior that was damaged. No one was injured in the crash, but it pushed some items onto the floor inside the store, Culp said.

The store was closed to drive-through only for a few hours Friday while crews worked to repair the building.
