Alta Pearl (Gentry) Butler 91 of Franklin, IN passed away Sunday December 13, 2020 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, IN with family at her side. She was born June 2, 1929 in Monroe County, KY to Thomas and Rosa (Creek) Gentry. She married George Eagle Butler on August 4, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN, he preceded her in death on June 30, 2005. She was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School in Tompkinsville, KY. She had been a group leader for Western Electric in Indianapolis retiring after 36 years of service. She was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church in Franklin, IN where she was involved in the shut-in ministry. She volunteered at the Lords Locker in Trafalgar, IN. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and traveling. Survivors include her children John Gregory Butler (Nancy) of Bloomington, IN, Georgenia Rogers (Rod) of Bargersville, IN, Steven Butler (Linda) of Great Lake Naval Train Center Chicago, IL, and Trina Nally (John Todd) of Franklin, IN, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a brother Joe Gentry (Dee) of Venice, FL, three sisters Allene Landis of Speedway, IN, Jewel Waters (David) of Cleveland, TX and Judy Hoover of Oxnard, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother James Gentry and three sisters Audrey Gaw, Gwen Pruitt and Pauline Gardner. Pastor Frank Finney will conduct a service Friday December 18, 2020 at 1PM at New Life Baptist Church 751 Nineveh Street, Franklin, IN and will be live streamed at <a href="http://www.facebook.com/newlifebapstistindiana">www.facebook.com/newlifebapstistindiana</a> or at <a href="http://www.nlbapstist.com">www.nlbapstist.com</a>. Friends may call Friday from 10AM till service time at the church with controlled entry. A facility next to the church will be available to view pictures and the live-stream of the service since the service for immediate family only inside the church sanctuary. Due to COVID-19 Mandates, facial coverings and or mask are required for those attending. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Baptist Church 751 Nineveh Street Franklin, IN 46131. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
