<p>
Tilford was the son of Robert Lee and Nora Belle (Hash) Taylor. He was born on November 19, 1934 in Somerset, KY.
</p>
<p>
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Earl, Orville, Jay, Glen, and Clinton; and sisters Iva, Zelma, and Doris. He was also preceded in death by his two fingers that he lost in a snowblower incident, Finger 1 and Finger 2.
</p>
<p>
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Doris (Moore); his four daughters, Joann (Dave) Pluckebaum, Teresa (Steve) Ford, Laverne (Jim) Dugan, and Denise (Matt) Rominger; 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Marvin) Petro, Shannon (Dustin) Stout, Sam Sommers, Sarah (Brian) Tague, Joey Sommers, Rachel (Cameron) Frasier, Austin Rominger, Hannah (Eric) Ripley; 2 bonus grandchildren, Jena (Geraid) Gault, Matt (Ally) Dugan; and 9 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Olivia, Iyla, Evan, Josie, Ezra, Cora, Ander, and Eliza; brother, Armel; sister, Armilda Phelps; and a very large church family.
</p>
<p>
Tilford, also known by his family as The Handsome One. He declared this name himself. Even though he declared this name in fun, he was actually quite humble. Always putting others above himself and helping whenever he could.
</p>
<p>
He proudly served the Lord and his country. He was a jack of all trades and was always quick to volunteer when he heard of someone in need. He made sure all the sidewalks on W Wiley Street were clear of snow in the winter. (Which led to the above-mentioned snowblower incident). He was an awesome provider for his family.
</p>
<p>
He retired from GM Truck and Bus in 1995 and was also a licensed plumber. He did plumbing on the side until he was no longer able. When he was not working you could almost always find him at his church in Greenwood, Calvary Baptist, or piddling in his garage.
</p>
<p>
Tilford loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even more than his family, he loved his Lord Jesus Christ and had given his life to Jesus at an early age. Praise God that he is now and will forever be in Jesus’ presence. This gives his family and friends great peace and comfort.
</p>
<p>
A private visitation and service will be held at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main Street. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, Indiana.
</p>
<p>
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
</p>
<p>
Per Indiana State Department of Health’s mandate, all services and visitations are limited to 25 people or less. Masks are mandatory and are to be worn at all times.
</p>
