Nelson Edward Wheeler, 78, Greenwood, peacefully passed away on December 18, 2020. He was born in Perry County, IN on October 22, 1942, the youngest of 11, to Homer and Nora Wheeler. His parents, along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters, preceded him in death. Nelson married Donna Pierle on August 28, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Nelson was a proud 1960 graduate of Southport High School where he ran track and played basketball.

<p>
He attended Indiana Central University and subsequently enlisted in the US Army and was honored to serve his country for over 2O years. Nelson is a retired Teamster, driving for Lyons Transportation Lines and Roadway Express. Nelson was a man of deep faith and never missed Sunday Mass, even when he could only watch it from his chair. He was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church for nearly 50 years.

Nelson is survived by the people he loved most in the world, his spouse, Donna, son Nelson (Stacey) Wheeler, daughters, Carrie Wheeler, Dayna (Daryl) Hedge and Andrea Wheeler, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Priscilla Miles, Mary (Don) Lasiter, Irene Krieg, Nancy (Don) Huebschman. In laws, Michael and Sally Pierle, Lee Ann Briggeman, Danny and Chris Pierle and Gary and Judy Pierle. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be private and he will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S Meridian Street, Greenwood, IN 46143.
