Cougars split at Scottsburg

Greenwood Christian played a pair of games at the Scottsburg Classic on Tuesday, earning a 67-58 victory over the host Warriors before falling to Class 4A No. 4 East Central, 60-51.

Brooklyn Stubblefield scored 24 and Izzy Reed 20 in the win for the Class A No. 7 Cougars (9-5). Ellie Bigelow led the way in the nightcap with 15 points.

Warriors fall short at home

Whiteland came up on the losing end of a 58-41 score against visiting Plainfield. The Warriors fell to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-State Conference.

Lancers hold off Tigers

Caleb Dewey scored a career-high 33 points and Edinburgh withstood a furious charge from Hagerstown in the closing minutes to claim a 75-69 victory in the third-place game of the Edinburgh Holiday Classic on Tuesday evening.

Isaac Roberts added 15 points for the Lancers (8-2), who led by 17 midway through the fourth quarter before the Tigers got as close as four in the final minute.

Woodmen compete at Mooresville

Greenwood dropped all four of its dual matches at the Mooresville Holiday Classic on Tuesday, with the closest a 40-36 setback against Yorktown. Eli Ross was 4-0 at 195 pounds for the Woodmen, while Ethan Stover went 3-1 at 220 and 285.

Moore earns coaching honor

Center Grove football coach Eric Moore was named as the All-American Bowl Coach of the Year on Tuesday. Moore led the Trojans to a perfect 14-0 season and the Class 6A state championship.
