Judith A. Long, 78, of Franklin, IN and former longtime resident of the Sweetwater Lake Community where she and her husband and family enjoyed many years before moving to Franklin passed away December 30, 2020 at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community. Judy was born November 2, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to Ernest Edward Rietel Sr. and Valley Mae (Sweares) Rietel. She married Marion L. Long on December 17, 1960 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, he survives. She attended St. John Academy in Indianapolis and graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 1960. Judy was a loving homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and recently became a great grandmother. She enjoyed collecting, crafts, sewing and card making.

Survivors include her husband Marion L. Long of Franklin, IN, a son Mark A. Long (Gretchen) of Greenwood, IN, a daughter Deborah D. Gardner (Raymond) of Ashburn, Virginia, two granddaughters Taylor Shepherd and Morgan Long and one great granddaughter Emerson Mosall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Francis C. Rietel and her brother Ernest Edward Rietel Jr.

Reverend David Mark Owens will conduct a service on Saturday January 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/judith-long.
