MORGANTOWN

Lynne E. (Lory) Allen, age 74, passed away Thursday evening, January 14, 2021 at IU Health – University Hospital in Indiana. She was a resident of Morgantown.

Lynne was born December 19, 1946 in Linton, to her parents, the late Henry and Evelyn (Bray) Lory. She was a 1965 graduate of Morgantown High School and went on to retire in 2008 from Nineveh Hensley Jackson School Corp where she worked as the Cafeteria Manager for over 27 years.

Lynne was a 50-year member of the Morgantown Baptist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors by mushroom hunting and fishing with her family. She was a fan of NCAA Men’s Basketball during March Madness, where she would study and watch her brackets for the winners. Lynne was also a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her true passion was spending time with and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. Lynne will be remembered for her excellent cooking and baking.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lloyd E. ‘Gene’ Allen, whom she married on July 17, 1965 in Celina, Tennessee. Lynne is also survived by her sons, Jason (Courtney) Allen and Josh (Mary Ogden) Allen, both of Morgantown; grandchildren, Keaton (Daphanie Ward) Allen of Martinsville, Graysen Allen of Morgantown, Rylee Swank of Morgantown, and Dezirae Ogden of Shelbyville; great grandson, Kash Allen of Martinsville; siblings, Mark (Linda) Lory of Morgantown and Noreen (James T.) Baird of Trafalgar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son; and siblings, Susanne Brooks and Frank Lory.

The Rev. Brett Baird will conduct a graveside service on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
