Gary Allen "Mr. B" Burkhart, age 70, of Lake Jackson, passed away Sunday January 17, 2021 at
</p>
<p>
home beside his loving wife, Judi. He was born November 13, 1950 in Greenwood IN to parents,
</p>
<p>
Kenneth Burkhart and Joeann Mabry Burkhart.
</p>
<p>
He graduated from Center Grove High School in Greenwood IN in 1969. He married his sweetheart, Judith Ann on Valentine’s Day 1978 in Speedway, IN.
</p>
<p>
He was a US Navy Vietnam War Veteran. He also served in the Indiana National Guard, but retired from the US Air Force with 32 years of service in 2002. He was born a Hoosier, but raised his family and called Texas his home for 40 years.
</p>
<p>
He had a passion for playing his guitar and ranching. He was a member of the West Columbia American Legion Mattson-Ringgold Post 503, and enjoyed volunteering with and mentoring those in his community. He dedicated many hours helping put together a 50 Th high school reunion in 2019,
</p>
<p>
doing what he did best, reaching out personally to each and every friend or classmate.
</p>
<p>
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, son Brandon, and brother Dana.
</p>
<p>
He is survived by
</p>
<p>
his loving wife of 42 years, Judi, son Adam Burkhart and wife Jennifer, sister Christy Padgett, brother Bill Burkhart and wife Amy, sister Jill Abbott and husband Bob, and Papaw to his beloved granddaughter Addyson Nicole. He is also lovingly survived by his cousins, nieces and nephews.
</p>
<p>
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Gary will be greatly missed. His story telling will never be forgotten by those he met throughout his life. He no doubt left a version with each of us that would be our own to tell.
</p>
<p>
No funeral service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be set at a later date.
</p>
