On Saturday, January 23, 2021, Terry DuPriest, a loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 62.

Terry was born in Terre Haute IN and raised in Indianapolis, IN, by his mother Alberta DuPriest. Committed to civil service, he enlisted in the Army after high school. Following active duty, he served as a Police officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for 33 years. He was assigned to the traffic unit as a Motorcycle Officer and was a riding member of the Indianapolis Police Department Motorcycle Drill team. During his time Terry had the privilege, as one of the riding members, to take part in two Presidential Inaugural Parades. Terry was an active member of FOP 86, The American Legion Post 56 and the Sons of the American Legion Police Squadron #56

On April 16, 1983, he married the love of his life, Sandra DuPriest. They raised two beautiful children together, James and Brittany DuPriest, and were able to spend 40 wonderful years together.

Terry was an avid Harley rider and had a passion for life. He loved his friends like family and could always be found laughing and loved being able to spend time with his “brothers”. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and exploring the world, as well as riding his Harley out to Sturgis every year, since 1990, with his friends. He was known for his giant bear hugs and infamous “knuckle-bumps”.

Terry is preceded in death by his mother Alberta DuPriest. He is survived by his wife Sandi, his children, James and Brittany DuPriest and his sister, Tami Vanette. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Terry’s name can be made to Riley children’s hospital, Indianapolis. Internment of his ashes at Greenwood Cemetery and a celebration of life will be held later this spring.
