Filter supplier expanding in Greenwood, adding 43 jobs

A national supplier of air and water filter products plans to invest $4.9 million to expand its Greenwood operations.

National Trade Supply, 2011 Southtech Drive, announced this week its plans to grow beyond its current facility and create 43 new jobs in the next three years, according to an Indiana Economic Development Corporation news release.

NT Supply was founded as an HVAC e-commerce site in 2002, and built a facility in Greenwood that employs 157 people. The company transformed into a national supplier providing products to sites such as FilterOutlet.com, DFfilterPro.com and flagship site DiscountFilters.com, featuring its AirX and ClearChoice filter brands.

When it started looking to expand in June, the company bought a 143,000-square-feet speculative building adjacent to its property in the Southtech Business Park, east of Interstate 65. NT Supply will invest $4.9 million in the building and manufacturing equipment, according to the news release.

Increased demand for clean air and water prompted the company to look for another facility to operate locally, said Todd Kenworthy, NT Supply’s Chief Operations Officer.

“It became clear we couldn’t continue to serve our customers and employees properly without adding square footage to our vision,” Kenworthy said in the news release. “When we considered our options to expand, we decided to remain in Johnson County because of the friendly business environment, welcoming community, low cost of living, access to a talented labor pool and easy interstate access.”

The company’s new 143,000-square-feet building was built by Becknell Industrial between 2018 and 2019, according to city documents. The developer invested more than $9 million in the project, and received a $1.4 million real property tax abatement from the City of Greenwood.

The economic development corporation offered NT Supply up to $640,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s plans to create up to 86 new jobs by the end of 2024. The company already created 43 new jobs last year, and plans to double that in three years. The tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired, the news release said.
