TRAFALGAR, INDIANA

Florence Elizabeth (Hopwood) Lister, 86, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 3, 2021 in Indianapolis.

She was born November 11, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Warren and Mary (Burge) Hopwood.

Florence married Robert A. Lister Sr. in June of 1952, together they had seven children. They were married for 57 years. Robert preceded her in death in 2009.

For many years Florence worked at Head Start, Special Services. This suited her servant heart. She later took on the roll of a community caregiver for all ages out of her home in Prince’s Lakes. Here is where she formed some of her most treasured relationships.

Florence was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, friend, aunt, grandmother (Nana) and great-grandmother (Gigi). Florence especially loved time spent with her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, playing and dominating at Yahtzee, working table puzzles, and being the best keeper of all her grandkid’s favorite candies and snacks.

When it came to Florence’s personality, it was simply unmatched. She was stubborn as a mule, independent to a fault, as generous as they come and equally as compassionate. She was caring and a woman that loved with her entire heart.

Florence is survived by her five children, Robert A. Lister Jr., Carl (Joyce) Lister, Ronald Lister, Kimberly (Mark) Wilcoxen and Sunday (Yankee) Skaggs, a sister, Alma Jean Miller, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, her parents, sister, Virginia Pope, two brothers, Tad and Calvin Hopwood, and two sons, James Richard and Jeff Lister.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday February 8, 2021 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
