Mrs. Lois Pauline (Heath) Cummings, 88, of Seymour, passed away on February 7, 2021 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. She graduated from Cowan High School and was a college graduate of Indiana Central College receiving her Bachelors of Science Degree then went on to receive her Masters of Science in Business Education from Indiana University. Lois was a teacher at Franklin High School and was awarded most influential teacher of 1993. At Franklin High School she taught typing, shorthand, and business classes. She loved playing the organ and spending time with her great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Community Congregational Church in Franklin, Indiana where she was the choir director and organist. Lois was also a member of the Brownstown Chapter of the Eastern Star for 50 years, a member of Tri Kappa, Delta Pi Epsilon Business at IU (Emeritus) and a member of the Indiana Vocational Association.

Mrs. Cummings was born in 1932 to the late Ezra Elbert Heath and Evelyn Herrin Heath in Cowan, Indiana.

On June 5, 1951, Lois was united in marriage to James T. Cummings at Cowan Christian Church.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Donald (Barb) Cummings, grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) Hoene, and Jill (Kyle) Halterman, great grandchildren Zoie Hoene, Max Hoene, Lane Hoene, Anslee Hawkins, Liam Halterman, and Lyla Halterman, brother Russell Heath and sister Linda Heath.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, brothers Carl “Bud” Heath and Earl E.”Doc” Heath, sisters Mary Carter and Imogene VanCamp.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour from 1-3 pm.

Funeral Services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 3 pm with Gill Hoene officiating.

The family requests memorial check be written in Lois’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association and White’s Chapel Church.

Lois will be deeply missed by family and friends.
