An Indianapolis man faces a felony charge for molesting a child he helped babysit.
Jonathan David Thompson, 27, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of child molesting and statutory rape, a Level 3 felony.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office last month began investigating a report that a child alleged several times that Thompson had touched her genitals, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Johnson County Circuit Court.
Detectives interviewed the victim who said Thompson would touch her and spank her over her clothes or underwear while she was sleeping. He also made her “kiss” his genitals on several occasions, court documents said.
The incidents occurred between September and December, according to court documents. The victim told her parents about Thompson touching her, and they confronted him, but he denied the claims, court documents said.
Detectives contacted Thompson at the end of last month, and scheduled an interview that he did not show up to. He was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Johnson County jail where he is held on $16,000 bond.
