FRANKLIN, IN.

Ethel Lorraine (Haug) Pederson, 96, of Franklin, IN passed away Saturday, February, 6, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN. She was born December 11, 1924 in Superior, Wisconsin to Thorstein and Marie (Kasseth) Haug. She married Odell Kenneth Pederson on February 23, 1953 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2011.

Ethel was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN where she belonged to Joanna’s Circle. She was also a member of the Nimble Thimbles Quilting Club, Franklin Homemakers, Sons of Norway, Circle City Chapter, and the Order of Eastern Star, Wisconsin.

Ethel worked as a bookkeeper part-time through the years, but her main focus was her home. She always gave loving care to her family. She was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed baking and cooking and loved to have family dinners. She enjoyed preparing for Christmas and made many Norwegian cookies and breads. She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She especially loved to quilt and made beautiful quilts for all of her family. Her giving, kind, and sweet spirit will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter Amy and son-in-law Tom Dougherty of Needham, IN, two grandchildren, Justin Dougherty (Susan) of Lafayette, IN, and Lauren Shanks (Brandon) of Schererville, IN, seven great-grandchildren; Noah Dougherty, Caleb Dougherty, Emma Dougherty, Grace Dougherty, Anna Shanks, Alice Shanks and Samuel Shanks. She also had many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers; Marvin Haug, Glenn Haug, Clarence Haug, Kenneth Haug and Thorstein Haug, and sisters; Eleanora Larson and Marian E. Anderson.

Her wonderful neighbors were also her family.

Rev. Dr. Jenothy Irvine will conduct a private family service on Saturday, February 13, 2020, at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN. Due to current restrictions, a celebration of life service will be forthcoming when circumstances allow all to gather safely.
