William M. Biddle Jr. 87, of Franklin, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at his residence.
</p>
<p>
William was born on August 26, 1933 in Camden, New Jersey to William Matthew Biddle Sr. and Jennie May (Leibensperger) Biddle. He was the youngest of eight children.
</p>
<p>
William went to Beaumont High School in St. Louis, MO where he graduated, but left early to join the Navy in September of 1951. This was the start of at 28-year military career having served in the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. While in the military, William received training in the medical field beginning as an operating room technician. In 1957, William went to St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1960. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and came on active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant. He then received training in anesthesia and graduated in 1964. William had tours both in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He ended his 28 year military career in Ft. Benning Georgia retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

<p>
William retired to Martinsville, Indiana where he began a thirty year career in civilian life, practicing anesthesia as a CRNA. His last days working as a CRNA were in October of 2009 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, IN.
</p>
<p>
He lived a rewarded life that included raising six successful children, living out a career he loved and serving his country. He enjoyed bowling, in which he was in various bowling leagues throughout his life, trips to the white sandy beaches of Florida, eating Vietnamese food, the companionship of his dog Arthur and watching the L.A. Dodgers. He also loved being involved with the Vietnam Veterans of America, watching military movies and reminiscing about family and the good ol’ days.

Survivors include his wife Yvonne N. (Bui) Biddle, his children Jennifer Bauer (Kevin) of Wildwood, MO, William M. Biddle III of St. Louis, MO, Allison Arias (Scott Wittler) of Fenton, MO, Kris Biddle (Tamerah) of Sallisaw, OK, Brian Biddle of Indianapolis, IN and Julie Huddleston (Dustin) of Franklin, IN, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
</p>

He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Biddle, Everett Biddle, Irving Biddle, John Biddle, sisters Mary Sinopoli and Kaye Train Smith.
</p>

Father Steven Schaftlein will conduct a private family service on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 11AM and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at <a href="http://www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/william-biddle">www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/william-biddle</a> with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. A public visitation will take place on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 5PM until 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Due to COVID-19 mandates facial coverings or mask and social distancing is required for those attending. The family requests your visit be brief so all attending can gather and be accommodated safely.

A private family graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 2PM (1PM Central Time) at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with the military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 1028 in St. Louis, MO.
