WEATHER ALERT: County under winter storm warning until Tuesday

The National Weather Service this weekend issued a winter storm warning for Johnson County and surrounding areas.

The warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Heavy snow is possible with total accumulations of 5 to 8 inches possible in portions of southeastern and south central Indiana and other parts of the state, according to a NWS forecast.

Travel will be difficult, and hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commutes Monday, the NWS said.

The first round of snow is expected Sunday night with the second round to occur during daytime hours Monday, according to the NWS.

Temperatures will continue to be below normal into next week. Below zero wind chills also will continue into midweek, the NWS said.
