Gerald "Jerry" England
</p>
<p>
The incomparable, amazing, creative, funny and loving Jerry England passed peacefully from this world on February 22nd with his family by his side. He lived life to the fullest until he could no more.
</p>
<p>
Jerry was a graduate of Warren Central High School, class of ’50, Indiana Central College, class of ’61 and Indiana State University, class of ’68.
</p>
<p>
He worked on the railroad while attending college and raising a family, but once he graduated was a teacher and coach; first at Triton North Jr. High, then Washington High School, Lawrence Central High School and finally, University of Indianapolis, where he was Head Track Coach and Assistant Football Coach. He was the proud coach of 8 NCAA Champions, an Olympian and 20 All-Americans. He himself earned eight conference Coach of the Year awards, eight Indiana Little State Coach of the Year honors and three Midwest Regional Coach of the Year accolades.
</p>
<p>
Jerry was a mentor, coach, teacher and friend to many who will always remember his tough exterior, but gentle heart. Mostly they will remember his humor and love of telling funny stories. He was considered by all the "Godfather of Track and Field Throwing Events" and a talented award-winning potter in his later years while a member of the Hoosier Artist’s Gallery.
</p>
<p>
Jerry was a longtime member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church and the Indiana Track Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame for Track and Field in 2007.
</p>
<p>
He will be missed beyond measure by his loving, beautiful wife of almost 69 years, Fran (Wilson) and his three adoring children, Gary England, Steve England and Christi Reynolds. He was a wonderful grandpa to his four grandchildren, Robert England, Brittany England, Jessica Reynolds and Zviad Aznaurashvilli. His great-grandchildren Kayla Reynolds Moit and Ethan Reynolds, loved him beyond measure. They say only the good die young, but not in this case. Jerry England was definitely one of the "good" ones and lived to be 88 years old.
