Kudos to the superintendent and school board of Center Grove Community Schools for keeping their high school students safe and also doing their part to protect other Johnson County residents by not returning to a full school schedule yet. It is obvious that you have done your research and understand the risk of the new COVID variants and the danger of putting the students back into a classroom environment. Thank you. You obviously care deeply about your students.

With the CDC sending strong warnings about not letting our guard down because of the drop in COVID cases. They have been warning health officials of the new variants from the UK, South Africa and Brazil spreading rapidly through the country and specifically the UK and South African variants spreading rapidly in Indiana. What are our local school leaders thinking by putting over 1,600 students, plus staff, bus drivers, etc. back in small class rooms where it is impossible to space out and be safe. The last time they did this students were very uncomfortable being in a crowed environment. They said it was impossible to distance in the hallways, some sat on the floors on the back of the classrooms because there was no room to space. They were required to sit 2 feet apart in the lunch rooms with no one wearing a mask while they were eating. The cases immediately began to rise. They also said that some students refused to wear mask while walking between classes and no school administrators would enforce the mask requirement. Shame on you Franklin Schools for putting these students, school support staff, bus drivers, teachers and the entire community in such a dangerous situation.
