FRANKLIN, IN.

Reford Young 99 of Franklin, IN passed away Friday March 12, 2021. He was born June 29, 1921 in Pikeville, Kentucky to William Amos Young and Stella (Davis) Young. He married Mona M. (Reynolds) Young on April 24, 1951 at University Heights Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN, she preceded him in death on December 6, 2013.

He was a graduate of Johns Creek High School in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W.II having served in the European Theater.

He established in 1965 Commercial Sewer Cleaning Company Inc. in Indianapolis, IN as a family business having retired in 1989.

He was a 67 year member of Southport Masonic Lodge #270 in Indianapolis, IN where he was raised as a Master Mason in 1954, a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and the Johnson County Shrine Club. He was also a member of Southport Height Christian Church in Indianapolis.

Survivors include his son Dennis Reford Young (Nancy) of Greenwood, IN, a daughter Denita K. Pickett (Michael) of Franklin, IN, six grandchildren Justin Michael Pickett (Leticia), Paul David Pickett, Andrew Jesse Pickett (Megan), Cory Ray Young (Beth), Ashley Marie Nelis (Jerod) and Denny Reford Young, seven great grandchildren Tony Pickett, Violet Pickett, Michael Jay Pickett, Deklan Young, Parker Young, Preston Nelis and Corinne Nelis and a brother Condor “Cobb” Young (Mae) of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers William Paris Young, Emry Young and twin brother Raymon Young and a sister Lola Thompson.

A service will be conducted on Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 1PM beginning with a Masonic Service followed by Pastor Steve Ferguson and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/reford-young. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
