Franklin College annual fundraiser set for April

For the second consecutive year, Franklin College’s annual Day of Giving will take place virtually on April 14.

The ninth-annual Day of Giving will include a 24-hour fundraising effort that will be promoted on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as by email and other college communication methods, according to a Franklin College news release.

The efforts, marked using the #GivetoGRIZ hashtag, will help support the college’s Franklin Fund, which provides tuition assistance to students who need it. Almost the entire student body receives some sort of tuition assistance, according to the release.

The college hopes to raise $175,000 from at least 1,000 individual donors during the Day of Giving, the news release said.

The event will include virtual coffee with faculty members, athletic training and exercise science and a happy hour with the Pulliam School of Journalism, among other online happenings throughout the day.

The college had its most successful Day of Giving to date last year, collecting $247,971 from 1,086 donors, according to the news release.
