Construction planned this week on I-65

Rolling slow downs and 20-minute stoppages are planned tonight and Thursday evening on Interstate 65 in Johnson County.

The stoppages are related to the County Line Road bridge project over I-65 in Edinburgh. This week, construction will entail hydro demolition of bridge decks over the interstate, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.

Intermittent stoppages will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. today at the State Road 44 exit in Franklin.

The same stoppages will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday at the State Road 252 exit in Edinburgh.

Traffic will be slowed to 20 mph at the bridges located near mile-marker 83, about three miles north of State Road 252, both nights.

Drivers should allow extra time to reach their destinations or use an alternate route to avoid delays, INDOT says.

The demolition is part of an $800,000 bridge rehabilitation contract.

County Line Road is scheduled to remain closed over I-65 through early August, according to INDOT.

The official detour follows County Road 550 S. to County Road 700 E. to County Road 400 S.
