<p><strong>Girls tennis</strong></p><p>Whiteland scored a 4-1 win at Greenwood on Thursday. Warriors senior Sarah Scott has won five of her six matches this season after defeating Sophia Davidson at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Sara Ullrich and the top doubles duo of Molly Brosnan and Natalie Cloer share the same record with their triumphs, while the No. 2 doubles pairing of Kaylee Hoagland and Lauren Trimble remained perfect at 6-0. Picking up the Woodmen point was Marissa Linville at No. 2 singles.</p><p>Baseball</p><p><strong>Franklin hammers Southport in five</strong></p><p>Leadoff hitter Max Clark had five RBIs, four of them on a grand slam, as the Grizzly Cubs blitzed Southport, 17-1, in five innings. Nolan Netter, Brodie Rinehold and Pryce Rucker all finished with three hits for Franklin (7-3), with starting pitcher Jackson Henry picking up the win by allowing two hits and striking out six in four innings of work.</p><p>Softball</p><p><strong>Trojans top Bulldogs</strong></p><p>Center Grove pitcher Alexis Rudd allowed five hits and struck out four as the Trojans defeated Brownsburg, 5-1. At the plate, Emma Fair had a pair of hits and an RBI, Ashlyn Wolff homered, drove in three and scored two runs, and Riley Janda had a hit and scored.</p><p><strong>Lancers lose to South Decatur</strong></p><p>Visiting South Decatur scored three runs in the top of the third inning on its way to defeating Edinburgh, 5-2. Seven different Lancers produced base hits, led by two from Mackenzie Whetstine. Carly Cowan had a home run in the loss, while Kyah Streeval produced a double.</p><p>Boys golf</p><p><strong>Grizzly Cubs down Golden Bears</strong></p><p>Senior Damon Dickey shot 35 to garner medalist honors and lead Franklin to a 155-198 victory over Shelbyville at The Legends. Next for the Grizzly Cubs was Quin Edwards with a 38, followed by Ian McCullough’s 40. Nate Blackwell and Barrett Daily each carded 42s for Franklin, while Will McGuinness fired a 45.</p><p><strong>Lancers second in three-way</strong></p><p>Edinburgh shot a score of 206 to finish behind Morristown’s 193 in a meet at Timbergate. Southwestern was third with a 215. Lancers’ golfer Max Blandford was medalist with a 41, and teammate Trevor Moon had a 51.</p><p>Track and field</p><p><strong>Woodmen boys, girls second</strong></p><p>Perry Meridian edged host Greenwood, 69 1/3 to 61, in a three-way meet that also included New Palestine (36 2/3). Individual winners for the Woodmen were Tanner Allen in the 100-meter dash (11.25 seconds) and 200 (22.9), Dylan Mayhew in the shot put (45-11 1/2), Brayden Gardner in the discus (138-8), Luke Hommell in the 110 hurdles (17.06) and 300 hurdles (46.94) and Conner Watson in the 3,200 (10:41). Winning the 4×100 relay for the Woodmen in 44.59 seconds were Jaydin Sheppard, Ethan Haessig, Michael Loper and Allen.</p><p>The Woodmen girls used wins by Siena Halfaker in the 100 hurdles (17.05), Amy Luttrell in the pole vault (9-0) and Ava Leininger in the 400 (1:04) to tie Perry Meridian for second-place with 46 points. New Palestine racked up 75 points for the win.</p>
