Richard Duane Cribbs

INDIANAPOLIS

Richard "Dick" Duane Cribbs, age 77, went home to be with Jesus on April 12, 2021, following a brief illness. Dick was the firstborn son of the late William Conley and Elva Cribbs of Wayne, Ohio. He was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1961. He attended Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL, graduating with a degree in Chemistry. He began his career teaching Chemistry in Greenwood Community Schools, then worked for Best Foods Corporation in Indianapolis for many years. He switched careers to computer programming in the mid ’80s, before working at the Home Depot. Dick was the father of Susan Cribbs Croissant (Bruce) of Bargersville, IN, and David Cribbs (Rebecca) of Indianapolis, IN. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Brouhard Cribbs, his parents and his brother James. However, he is survived by both children and six wonderful grandchildren; Lauren and Andrew Croissant of Bargersville IN, and Caroline, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Matthew Cribbs of Indianapolis. His brother, Philip (Nancy), sister-in-law, Mary, and nephews, Joshua (April), Wes (Lindsay) and James (Autumn) and their children also survive. A lifelong church member, Dick lent his talents to Community Church of Greenwood and LifePoint Church. He faithfully served as a choir member, taught Sunday School classes, and helped at numerous church events. He and his wife served for 25 years as shepherds and head shepherds while caring for church members.

Dick’s visitation will be Saturday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of his Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. at LifePoint Church, 8540 Combs Road, Indianapolis. Pastor L. Dean Jones will officiate. Due to COVID-19, masks will be required in the church building. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to LifePoint Church or Gideon Bibles
